The second phase of the Cambourne to Cambridge better bus journeys consultation opened on 4th February and Heidi encourages any resident potentially affected by these proposals to submit their thoughts before the closing date of 31st March 2019. You can find the consultation link here. Heidi also strongly urges residents to take advantage of the drop in sessions hosted by the Greater Cambridge Partnership throughout February and March (details of which can be found below).
This consultation is seeking feedback about the proposals for the bus link west of Madingley Mulch roundabout to Bourn Airfield and Cambourne, and the proposed new Park & Ride facility to the south west of Cambridge city.
The consultation contains two options for the location of the Park and Ride scheme and three options for the proposed bus route.
GCP are proposing locating the Park & Ride site at either Scotland Farm, which is located at the junction of the A428 and Scotland Road, or The Waterworks, located at the junction of St Neots Road and the A1303 Madingley Road, near the 'Madingley Mulch' roundabout.
The bus route proposals are:
Option 1 - An entirely off-road route, only interacting with other traffic at junctions.
Option 2 - An entirely on-road route, with public transport mixing with general traffic and basic junction improvements.
Option 3 - An entirely on-road route, but with dedicated public transport lanes.
The section from Bourn roundabout to Broadway forms part of a major planning application for approximately 3,500 homes at Bourn Airfield and is the same across all options. All options show two alternatives for entry to Cambourne, travelling with general traffic through the village (Route A), or up Broadway and along St Neots Road (Route B), entering Cambourne from the north.
Full details of the consultation can be found in the consultation booklet, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page, or via the Greater Cambridge Partnership’s website.
